The Best Practices Institute

Hi there, I’m Cheyenne Davis, Director of the Best Practices Institute, which is the new shared training department of the DNC and the Association of State Democratic Committees!
Today I’m here with some really exciting news for all of you — as of last week, our Best Practices Institute (BPI) has trained over 10,000 people already in 2019!
That means 10,000 more grassroots volunteers, activists, and candidates — all across this country — are trained and ready to help us defeat Donald Trump and the Republicans right now.
What this also means is that we are strengthening the Democratic Party infrastructure to ensure success, not just this year and in 2020, but for many years to come.
Since its inaugural year in 2018, the BPI has expanded the existing training department from four training programs to fourteen independent training programs, and counting. The BPI now delivers trainings to activists and volunteers, party leaders and staff, students and youth organizers, candidates and campaign staff, constituency groups and community leaders, and so many more!
One of the best parts of my job is that I get to see first-hand the energy behind our movement. Everyday, I have the opportunity to hear from the grassroots of our party — whether that be through our regular national webinars, or while we’re on the road training Democrats on their own turf.
Let me tell you, there is nothing more inspiring than walking into an early Saturday morning training and finding that it’s standing room only. Whenever I find myself worried about the direction of our democracy, I just think of all of those people — notepads and coffee in hand — ready to learn the skills that will help them elect Democrats up and down the ballot.
With this renewed focus on training, the DNC, state Democratic parties, and campaigns across this country are better equipped than ever to take on one of the greatest challenges America has faced in our history. But we can’t let up now — we need all hands on deck to ensure that Democrats win from the school board to the White House, and we can’t do this without your help.
