Today we are commemorating the 28th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This act prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in areas of their daily life, including voting. The DNC believes that voters with disabilities deserve full rights and protections while exercising their right to participate in our democracy, so in celebration of the passage of the ADA, we are rolling out our brand-new SMS Voter Hotline as a way to increase accessibility for voters with disabilities.

Central to the DNC’s work protecting voting rights is our national voter hotline, which is answered year-round by staff in the Civic Engagement and Voter Protection Department. We help voters with a variety of questions including about registering to vote, updating their registration, locating their polling place, and reporting issues they encounter at the polls. The hotline has been up and running for almost one year and has been an incredible success. So far in 2018, we have supported 32 different elections, in addition to our normal daily hours, and assisted hundreds of voters across the nation.

In addition to our dial-in hotline, the SMS hotline will be available year-round and open from 9am-6pm (ET) Monday through Friday. Voters can text the keyword QUESTIONS to 43367 and a staff member from the Civic Engagement and Voter Protection Department will follow up with them and answer their questions. We’re so excited to offer this new service because it will allow the DNC to equip more voters with crucial information. Being confident and informed is incredibly important to the experience of voting, and we are proud to be able to offer this information to more people than ever.

So please, send us a text or give us a call. We’re here to help!

You can reach our voter hotline between 9am-6pm (ET) Monday through Friday by calling 1–833–336–8683 or texting QUESTION to 43367.

By providing your phone number you are consenting to receive periodic text messages from the DNC. Message and data rates may apply. Text HELP for help, STOP to quit. Privacy policy: democrats.org/more/privacy-policy
